How to Play Would You Rather
Would You Rather is the easiest family game to start: one question, two choices, and no wrong answers. Here is how parents, grandparents and coaches can turn it into a real game with scoring, and five ways to play.
The rules in five steps
- Pick a reader. One person reads a question out loud. Take turns each round.
- Everyone picks at once. On the count of three, everyone shouts A or B, or holds up one or two fingers.
- Defend your pick. Each player gets one sentence to explain why. No changing sides after you hear the others.
- Score Heart Points. Anyone who sided with most of the group earns 1 Heart Point. A tie earns nobody a point.
- Play a Stat Showdown. Read both stat cards, pick, then reveal the verdict. Match it and earn 2 Brain Points.
Five ways to play
- Car ride: One reader, everyone shouts A or B. The driver breaks ties.
- Team bench: Go around the bench. Each player explains their pick in five words.
- Family dinner: One round per dinner. The youngest picks the round.
- Tournament: Play three rounds. Most total points wins, Brain Points break ties.
- Solo: Guess what the data says before you look. Track your streak.
